A modern languages graduate, Brenda has had an impressive career in communications in leading roles with major FTSE100 companies Whitbread, Nat West Group and Granada, where she was responsible for developing communications strategy and implementation plans, and where she won numerous awards for her programmes and materials. Brenda initially joined Whitbread's CSR programme to take the lead in developing the Group's CR communications activity before moving into CR programme management and ultimately becoming Whitbread's Head of Corporate Responsibility. She undertook a major review of The Group's corporate responsibility agenda and successfully led the Group's participation in the BitC CR Index for the first time, helping secure a place in the UK's Top 100 Companies that Count.
JILL GUSTAVE
Originally from the North East and with a background in art and design, Jill's earlier career was in sales, marketing and event management roles for SMEs and larger companies, taking responsibility for marketing campaigns, cross company conferences and major sponsorship events.
After studying for a degree in Applied Social Studies (BA Hons), she then developed her career in CSR at Whitbread in communications and project management. Jill was responsible for Whitbread's first employee volunteering awards scheme. She played a leading role in project managing and evolving the Whitbread Young Achiever awards, Whitbread's flagship community programme and major collaboration with the voluntary sector and the Home Office Volunteering and Charitable Giving Unit. And she was responsible for developing an innovative and clever format for the Group's comprehensive volunteering handbook, which has also been adopted and tailored for use by other large companies.
